I’m just about to leave the office, but there’s a glass of scotch in my near future. After two long days of maintenance training with some consulting folks, I've had a revelation in how I should be running my field sites.  My predecessor ran a program of basically kicking the tires and peeking under the hood, and doing little else until something stoped working.  I won't be doing anything like that going forward.  And because I wasn't going to waste having them around, I went in early the last couple of days to make sure things were ready to go when they got here, and I kept us going around to sites until we ran out of day light each day. I've earned a drink.

I actually decided to not drink alcohol for the month of January. Just to do it. I don’t think I’ve ever made a decision to not drink for a period of time. I don’t think I feel any differently. Meh.

That sounds fantastic. (Though even just meat and chips sounds awesome at this point)

A sad lack of diversity in my areas means the closest I could likely get to the wrap would be buying gyro meat (since I know of one or two greek restaurants at least ) and recreating the wrap at home..

I live in one of the smallest* cities in England.

We we don’t have much diversity here. My county is 95% white (83% is the England average).

For food we have:

Chinese, Cantonese (I class these separate as many Cantonese will happily tell you they aren’t Chinese, they are Cantonese-British) ,

Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani,

Italian,

Greek/Turkish/Greek Cypriot/Turkish Cypriot,

*sort of a trick question/answer as it’s also one of the largest**.

**Cumbria and my home city are full of peculiarities. Lol.

I just looked it up, and if you measure diversity by the number of minority residents, Ohio is apparently more diverse than Cumbria.

I guess I just want a kebab wrap and am not convinced I can easily find one in the suburbs between Dayton and Cincinnati..

Got back from a trip, decided I didn’t need a drink before going to bed at 5:30am and then wanted to see if I could make it a couple weeks, so no hard January due  date. I feel emboldened by how easy it is (and I frigging LOVE beer)

I think most IPAs taste like Buckleys, something about that pine taste. They all look and sound so appealing and then you get a mouthful of bitter pine

i was expecting it to be harder but its not so bad...just cant sleep for shit

I started New Year’s Eve. Didn’t really want to go to my wife’s sister’s house, but if I was sober I could drive home..... it also just makes me want a cold beer even more. I was even thinking of switching to February since it’s two days shorter, but 2 weeks in, I don’t feel any different. But I am still buying and getting beers.
